Promotions!

PMA tournament team competed at Lynwood, CA in the Los Angeles area.

Stars and Stripes 32nd annual PMA tournament and demonstration will be at Coronado High School Gym Saturday April 24th. Competition begins at noon with black belts.

PMA celebrates 31 years in San Diego!

The 31st anniversary took place on October 24 at the Old Town dojo with Awards Day. About 90 well dressed students and friends attended the formal party and presentation of the six major trophies.

Award winners this year were:

Grandmaster Devine Student of the Year: Colin Metcalf
Linda Shishidio Cultural Award: Ciara Dooley
James Conway Sensei Service Award: James White
McEuen Family Teacher Award: Mark Adams
Grootenhuis Bushi Award (Teenager of the year): Javed Osmani
Washin-ryu Pine Tree Competitor of the Year: Michael Kaminski

Concentration is a major part of karate performance.
Asobi ja nai or "don't play around" is an essay by Master Devine that continues the theme of focus and concentration in training class.

Grandmaster title and 10th Dan were awarded to Master Jerry Devine
on Dec. 10/02 by Grandmaster Victor A. Hughes.

At a special ceremony for PMA black belts and alumni black belts plus about 20 of the top San Diego karate masters, Master Devine was recognized for his many contributions to the martial arts with this award. This is the highest award in karate. Master Devine jokingly laments there are no more belts to earn so where will he find goals for the future.
